Guide to Formula One
Formula One racing is one of the most exhilarating sports events throughout the world. The sport's origins come from post World War Two and resulted in a set of rules being made, with the first Formula_One event occurring in 1950. While Grand Prix races have been staged worldwide, there is always one constant - the car firms who invest money into their teams annually. The most famous motor car firms are Ferrari, Renault and McLaren, although in recent years Jordan and Lotus have also taken part in championships. The real stars have always been the drivers, from the hard racing of Alain Prost through to the popular racer Graham Hill.
Racing events
There are quite a few motor racing events each year which each have a different set of fans and are each set in different locations. The World Touring Car Championship ran by the FIA is one of the most exciting racing events in the jam packed motor sports diary. First formed in 1987, the WTCC series is held all around the world including in prestigious locations such as Great Britain, Japan, Morocco and Spain. Other popular motoring events include the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the the Gumball 3000 Rally and the Monte Carlo Rally. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series are also classed as two of the world's best car racing championship events.
Car racing
Unsurprisingly car racing involves the racing of cars in the name of competition and is understandably one of the most popular televised sports around the world. It's believed car racing started just after the very first gasoline-powered vehicle was devised and it's widely thought that the first ever world car race in 1894 by a French magazine called Le Petit Journal. The first car race track started in Paris and ended in Rouen and attracted top motor manufacturers like Peugeot and De Dion and many other amateur car owners. Although motor racing continued to grow in popularity over the years, it wasn't until the mid 1930s that the first racing automobiles were created, with exceptional performance vehicles from key manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Delage transforming the feel and style of car racing forever.
